I was under the impression that they were training partners and good friends...maybe I am mistaken, but if they indeed are, I doubt we will see them on opposite sides of the cage. Can anyone confirm this?
i already mentioned this and i confirm, that machida once said he was waiting for anderson to join his camp again. when machida was preparing for a fight, and anderson was fighting aswell (just sooner). so machida waited til the spider fought and then wanted the spider to join him. something he has done before, that was my impression / or i read / heard that.
conclusion, they will not fight, unless its for the title, and even then, it will take alot of money / hype to "push" them into it. i do not know if they are good friends, but when brazilian train alot together, they definitely bond.
i'll try the matchup i'd like to see:
anderson vs forrest for the title. machida vs liddell (hey liddell, making fun of tito, but tito stepped up, its your time now chucky) rampage vs shogun / wand (only if shogun is fully healthy and ready, so probably not)
Directly interested in the Light-heavyweight championship belt, Lyoto Machida disagreed on the judges decision that made Forrest Grifin the new champion. "Look.. to me, Quinton beat Forrest, but they gave it to Forrest. I think the UFC wants a champion that Chuck Liddell can beat, so he can win the belt again.. he is an ex-champion, sells more and has more marketing." said Lyoto, who also analyzed Anderson Silva moving up in weight "I think Anderson can do well in any category, he is fast and very technical, thats his difference from the others." commented Lyoto, who doesn't want to fight his friend. "That doesn't even go through my head. He is a great friend of mine and helps me a lot. He is older than me and always helps me on what to do, I don't want to fight him" ended Lyoto.

When you read what the TS of the other topic translated, the guy cuts 4 sentences into 3 sentences and does so implying that Machida said that UFC rigged the decision just so they could give the title shot to Liddell.
I will go straight to the main point.
wich translates in english to:
"Look, to me Quinton won (the fight against) Forrest, but they (the judges) gave (the decision victory) to Forrest. And now I think that they will settle the (title) fight with Chuck Liddell (next) ,for him to take the title. I feel that they want Liddel to stay with the title (in the end), he is an ex-champion, he has more marketing and sells more"
He is not implying that UFC rigged the decision and gave the title to Forrest as the TS of the other thread made it look like.
Machida is just saying that he doesnt agree with the judges. Thats the first sentence. THEN he proceeds to analize whats next based on the result of the fight!
I don't speak portuguese, but that was english translation from Tatame, not form some forum member on Sherdog, I found it here: http://www.tatame.com/2008/07/08/Lyoto- ... uinton-won But basically, meaning is the same...
